THE ROMULUS & REMUS COMPLEXES: A PSYCHOANALYTICAL APPRAISAL OF SIBLING RIVALRY
AUTHOR’S NOTE: “Romulus” began life as a few tentative pages of notes back in September 1998 and was first published in April 2000 on the Angelfire website by my late friend Martin Holland (this is the version that appears below). It was subsequently revised three times, to include the 2000, 2001, and 2002 Formula One seasons respectively. Having recently re-read the most recent version of “Romulus” I have realised that while I made many valid points regarding the sometimes-unacceptable conduct of Ralf and Michael Schumacher on-and-off the race track, some of my other observations about them were both unjustified and unfair. I have left the original link as it stands but – to quote a popular disclaimer – “This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written [by me] today.” Thank you. - Robin Tamblyn, January 2020.
